This Sunday, A's vs. Rangers Preceded by Sanctuary Video
When the Texas Rangers host the Oakland Athletics at 6:05 p.m. Sunday in Arlington, TX, Born Free USA will be there - making a Jumbotron-size video pitch for support of our Primate Sanctuary!
About four years ago, Rangers pitching legend and co-owner Nolan Ryan spoke with reporters about having once been an "ambassador" for the snow monkeys who were living in what is now the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary. While everything at the sanctuary has changed for the better since Ryan's visit, his dry recitation of what happened back in the 1990s had the audience (or at least the two radio personalities who were interviewing Ryan) howling with laughter, and the audio of the exchange has attracted so much attention that Sunday's game has been declared "Nolan Ryan Snow Monkey Day" at the ballpark.
Unfortunately, none of us here at the sanctuary is able to attend because we're too busy feeding and caring for monkeys, building enclosures and play structures for our largest rescue yet, and trying to beat the south Texas heat. But if you're planning to attend the game, please let us know how our video (which will screen before the game) is received!
Meanwhile, you can view a private screening of the video here, but it's sure to look much better on the 42-by-120-foot Jumbotron (that's 5,040 square feet!) on game day!
Can't make the game? No problem, you can still help with a donation!
Baseballs and monkeys: that's something to cheer about!
