The WAO 108 Are Home. To Celebrate, Can You Spare $10.80?!
It is with no small amount of pride — and, I'll admit it, relief — that today I can announce that all 107 macaques and one baboon rescued from the Wild Animal Orphanage have arrived safely at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary!
This rescue, by far our largest ever, has been in the works for a long time. Following many months of negotiations and planning, early this year we began building enclosures and recreation structures for what we call The WAO Group. We began accepting the monkeys, transported in stages by air-conditioned truck from nearby San Antonio, in late July. The last delivery was yesterday.
We rely on you and our other supporters to fund these life-saving rescues and provide the experienced, compassionate care that we give all our monkeys. To help celebrate the arrival of 108 primates from the WAO, please consider making a donation of $10.80 today. Once we receive 108 donations, we will randomly choose one of those donors to receive a gift package of goodies that includes a Born Free USA T-shirt, a plush toy primate and a free "adoption" packet.
With your help, we will give these new arrivals — and the 530 primates who already were here before this rescue — a lifetime of good nutrition, medical care when needed, companionship with members of their own species, and generous space in which to exercise, explore and experience a life free from exploitation.
It is a privilege to be able to care for these monkeys and I cannot thank you enough for your support.
For the primates,
P.S. Stay tuned for some exciting news about our sanctuary's affiliation with the Texas Rangers baseball team!
