Help Born Free USA Celebrate National Bird Day on Jan. 5!

Dear Friend,

One month and counting, and then it's all for the birds!

Please join in our annual celebration of all things avian on Jan. 5, 2013 — National Bird Day, which we co-founded more than a decade ago with the Avian Welfare Coalition.

As always, we plan to build on the many successes of the last National Bird Day. This time around, you can participate by:

  • Entering our annual Free Bird Contest, which runs through January. Learn more here.
  • Purchasing and displaying our 2013 National Bird Day posters. They're only $1 apiece!
  • Ordering our National Bird Day Teachers Pack, for your classroom or for your children's school.
  • Reading "Lucky," based on a true story about a parrot who is captured in the wild and eventually regains his freedom with the help of a young boy.

Visit our National Bird Day website and you'll discover a lot more, including tips on how to keep birds safe, our Bird Call Quiz and a blog exchange between my colleague, Barry Kent MacKay, and me in which we are profiling particular bird species through January.

In common cause,
